Important information
Ingredients
Training collars are used to train the dogs instead of punishing. This collar has three options to train the dogs, Beep, vibration and Static . And the static static will always be the last source to use. We'd like to recommend our strong vibration training collar as well if you don't want to use static static collar. 0

This collar has been a life saver, our dog was/is smart enough to know that if she running around in the backyard off leash (it is fenced all the way around) we didn't really have a way to catch her because she's fast and agile and clever. So if she was doing something she wasn't supposed to she'd run run run run run around avoiding us because we were too slow to catch her. And telling her "NO" from across the yard wasn't enough and with most dogs if you can't catch them in the act of doing it they don't really learn not to do it. SO even if we managed to catch her after the fact she wasn't learning that what she was doing was bad because she'd already "forgotten" what she'd been doing.
Enter the shock collar. I am now able to sit inside and watch her out the back window while she plays in the yard. If she starts to dig, she gets a beep, if she does it again, she gets a shock. If she chases the cat without him starting it first, she gets a beep, if she keeps going after him, she gets a shock. One little beep is really all she needs now and she stops. She never wants it to get to the shock part, she learned that the first day she ever had the collar on.
My hope is that in her developmental years it will become so ingrained in her brain that when she finally hits the adult stage I'll be able to forgo the collar all together and simply trust her to behave in the backyard. This collar in the meantime however has been wonderful because it's rechargeable so I don't have to switch batteries or anything, I can simply plug it and the remote in when I think they need a charge an it's good to go. The battery also seems to last a good while on one charge before I feel like it's losing its kick.
I also like this collar because it has SO MANY options. It has a beeper, vibrator, and a shock. For some dogs the vibrator and beep might actually be enough alone. I also like that you can choose how "powerful" you want all of them to be. It runs on a scale of 1-100 so it's very versatile for ANY dog (depending on their pain tolerance and size), and it came with three different length prongs. I didn't want my dog to cower in fear or yelp painfully if she got shocked, that's too much, but I DID want it too be strong enough for it to interrupt and STOP whatever bad behavior she was doing and so far that has been a success. I find less and less dig spots in the yard and most times when I look out there, she's happily laying in the grass chewing on sticks and soaking up the sun.
My husband also tested this collar on himself, holding in his hand and started at a 1 and slowly worked our way up one click at a time. (he didn't make it very far). It's powerful, I'll say that, and dogs do have fur and higher pain tolerance usually so you will need use your best judgement and watch their behaviors when you use the collar.
1) The little rubber tab that is intended to pull out the entire rubber insert/seal covering the charge ports out of it's seat tore away off after a few charges, but it really doesn't affect my ability to still get the seal out from the corner. Maybe just thickening one of the corners, for better fingernail contact, would work better?
2) I sometimes wonder if, even with the longest prongs, it's making a constant good connection with his skin on the shock setting due to his fur, as sometimes he responds much more noticeably to the shock setting than others. However, this either be due to the collar still being a bit loose (I recently set it to the tightest normal setting I could... see below), or it could just be an inherent, and unavoidable, shortcoming of the concept as a whole, yet if so, I honestly can't envision a better way to do it?
3) Having some sort of instructions on how to loop the collar for smaller dogs (he was a runt, and only about 30 lbs. when I first "introduced" him to it) would have been appreciated. While I did ultimately figure out a workable configuration, I pride myself on having excellent problem-solving skills, and still scratched my head for a few on this one! LOL
Regardless, the unit is an overall excellent value in my opinion, and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it again... even if, or when, this one possibly reaches the end of it's lifespan. I frankly don't foresee that happening any time soon, though, unless the battery eventually stops holding a good charge? Only (a lot of) time will tell on that one, though.
